Lingos in IIT Delhi

Welcome to my 2nd blog
.
So I have been studying at IIT Delhi for one year. And I have experienced a lot and learned many different words which often came through a conversation with someone.
So here are some of them:
  1. Fachcha/Fachchi: these words are used for freshers(first-year students)
  2. Prof: it is used for a professor.
  3. Tut: abbreviation for tutorial. A practice question sheet, given by professors. Topic-wise generally.
  4. Banda/Bandi: these two are simple Hindi words, in IIT Delhi, these two words keep a deep meaning. Banda is used for boyfriend as well as Bandi for girlfriend. (as you know it is a rare thing to have a Bandi in IITs.)
  5. Disco: a short form of Disciplinary committee. A meeting holds to take actions whenever someone breaks the college rules or does something which should not be done according to professors.
  6. Satti: it is used for grade ‘7’ in a course or semester. Chauki, Panji, Chhakki, atthi, nahli and dassi are also used for 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10 grade respectively. But satti is more comment word. If someone says “ meri satti nhi hai” or “satti thuk gyi,” it means he couldn’t score 7 grade. Satti is popular among these because for any post of representative, secretary or coordinator; you need to have a CG of more than seven.
  7. Hukka: used for humanities courses. One has to complete 15 credits of these courses in 4 years.
  8. Funda(e): pieces of advice given by seniors to their junior students.
  9. DepC: short form of ‘department change.’ If one gets good CG after the 1st year than college allows him/her to change his/her branch. But it is a challenging task.
  10. Machana: a verb which is used when someone has done praisable or extraordinary work.
  11. Chill hai: most common sentence said by every student. It means “Everything is okay.”
  12. Thukna: a verb which is used when someone is performed miserably in a course that might affect his/her final grades.
  13. Rep: abbreviations for representative. Each club has one (or two) rep from each hostel representing their hostels.
  14. Matka: noun which is used for any student pursuing post-graduation from IITD.
  15. Stud/Machau: is used for those who do a quite good performance in both acads and non-acads alike. A few people are there who are in this category, and everyone wants to be stud/Machau. (In Hindi you can relate word Machau with the person jo machata hai, look at point no. 10)
  16. Insti: abbreviations for institute. Most commonly used to the institute area.
  17. GPL: full form of GPL is “g***d pe laat.” The first gift to a birthday boy by his friends. If you stay at your hostel on your birthday, then you will definitely get the taste of GPL.
  18. WindT: one of the most popular areas in insti. You can hang out here with your friends after lectures. Full form is Wind Tunnel.
  19. Secy: abbreviations for Secretary. Each club has one secy who is responsible for the execution of all club activities.
  20. Hagna: it is a verb. You will hear students talking like “Yaar aaj to viva me hag diya” (if someone screwed the viva) or “ yaar tune to stage pe jate hi hag diya” (if someone is looking very uncomfortable at the stage). It can be used in such a situation when you believe that you have messed it up badly or done something really foolish.
  21. Junta: refers to a group.
  22. BT: abbreviations for Bad Trip. When something does not happen as per your expectations or when your planning is excellent, but it cannot occur.
  23. Convo: abbreviations for convocation.
  24. coordi: abbreviations for coordinator.

My First Blog

This is what I look like. Pic taken at Rashtrapati Bhavan (Red eyes don't mean I smoke weed, it is because of camera effect.😛) First of all, I would like to tell you why I am here. In a world full of fake imaginations and envy, I am here to get some relief from the daily boring routine. It is enough to tell the reason of my such life is that I am an engineering student at IIT Delhi. Currently, I am at Jaipur, away from the daily world, and writing my first blog. It is not the first time when I am writing something. I used to write on Quora, but it used to be primarily on a particular topic. What should we write in our very first blog? A lot of people introduce themselves and discuss their daily life routines. Without trying anything different, let's begin. Hi everyone!!!👋 I am Manoj😊 with roots at Kuchaman City, Rajasthan, in western India. I matriculated from ABN sr. Sec. School in 2015 and passed the 12th standard from Navjeevan sr. Sec. School Sikar in 2017. (...

Love Me like You Do

30th January 2020, 2:38AM Sitting in the central library of IIT Delhi, a quiz is scheduled for tomorrow in Programming Languages. Although I haven't studied anything yet, still I couldn't concentrate on my mind. Today I found a cool song  "Love Me Like You Do"  when it buzzed in someone's mobile. It affected me so much as later I listened to this song, and tried to get the lyrics. After humming this song again and again, now I learned some lines. Here is my broken lyrics: You're the light, you're the night You're the color of my blood You're the cure, you're the pain You're the only thing I wanna touch Never knew that it could mean so much, so much You're the fear, I don't care 'Cause I've never been so high Follow me through the dark Let me take you past our satellites You can see the world you brought to life, to life So love me like you do, lo-lo-love me like you do Love me like you do, lo-lo-love me like you d...

Good Byee 2019

So it is the year ending time of 2019 so I am summarizing this year in a poem. Zindagi ka ek aur varsh kam ho chala, kuchh purani yaadien peechhe chhorh chala.. kuch khwaahishein dil me rah jati hai, kuch bin mange rah jati hai.. kuch chhorh kar chale jate hai, kuch naye judenge iss safar mein.. kuch mujhse bahot khafa hai, kuch mujhse bahot khush hai.. kuch mujhe mil ke bhul gye, kuch mujhe aaj bhi yaad krte hai.. kuch sayad anjaan hai, kuch bahot pareshaan hai.. kuch ko mera intzaar hai,  kuch ka mujhe intzaar hai.. kuch shi hai, kuch galat bhi hai.. kuch galati ho to maaf kijiye, kuch achha lge to yaad kijiye..   Let's start in 2020 with a new initiative by revising our goals, thinking about all the mistakes and try to improve all those. Wish you all a prosperous   Happy New Year
