Dear Irrfan,
I know that you were against the idea of idolizing actors and sportspersons and calling them heroes. So I'd like to apologize in advance because I'm just about to call you my hero.
As a kid obsessed with Hindi cinema, watching your films for me used to be a gateway into a world that I was otherwise unfamiliar with. You are the man who redefined the world of movies and the art of acting for me. From 'Maqbool', 'The Namesake', to 'Paan Singh Tomar', 'Life of Pi' and 'Piku', your films have taught me countless lessons and consistently inspired me to be a better man.
I am not sure if writing a letter to you this way is the correct thing to do, but I really don't know how else to express the grief I'm feeling now. I never had the honour to meet you in person, but your loss still feels as personal as humanly possible.
Your last films 'Hindi Medium' and 'Angrezi Medium' both are masterpieces. I can't even imagine any other actor in the role. Your way to say the dialogues was epic.
I read the below lines somewhere, and these lines consistently filling a pain of losing an idol in my heart:
"Yeh Saali Zindagi" aisi hi hai, we lost "The Warrior" Irrfan Khan. "Madaari" ka "Karwaan" tham gyaa hai, "Billu" se leke "Paan Singh Tomar" tak hamne "Hindi Medium" me "Lunchbox" ko kho diya hai.
"Footpath" se leke "Apna Aasmaan" tak, he was "Mr. 100%", he was "The Killer", he was "A Mighty Heart".
RIP Legend!😢
