The weekend is here, and so is our weekend pack. This time, I bring you a comedy cum social awareness pack that you should surely consider watching with your family. This includes two movies: Dasvi and Mimi, both are good comedy-drama family movies with a taste of learning and awareness. Also, both movies are produced by Dinesh Vijan and are available on Netflix. Let's check it out:
Dasvi
Don't know where to start but this movie is not just about humor, it also delivers a solid message to our society. The story revolves around a crooked yet witty politician Ganga Ram Chaudhary (Abhishek Bachchan), who is jailed under a tough superintendent Jyoti Deswal (Yami Gautam), and decides to spend his time studying for high school. It shows how he finds out the hard way that being good with people doesn't make you good with the syllabus of class 10th.
Dasvi is a proper family film which can be enjoyed with the whole family. Somewhere, you again go back to your memories of class 10th with Chaudhary Ji while preparing for the exam. Some serious issues like politics, right to education, and political vs education power are raised and shown in a comedy way. Some key features of the movie are:
- The effortless comedy that genuinely brings laughter.
- Script is filled with humourous dialogues and brilliant dialogue delivery in the Haryanvi accent makes them more effective.
- All characters have managed to bring successful roles with proper character building.
- Many hidden references to real-life events make the movie more entertaining and humorous.
Dasvi is not a masterpiece or once-in-a-lifetime type movie. The story is simple and somewhat predictable. You'll get entertainment with lots of laughter, emotion, and also a beautiful lesson.
Abhishek Bachchan as jaat leader is simply terrific. But Yami Gautam is the soul of the film and succeeds to steal the show. It brings out the best version of Yami Gautam.
Overall, it is worth giving 2 hours to this movie.๐
Mimi
Mimi is a good comedy-drama movie full of entertainment, positivity, and emotions as well. It starts with showing a foreign couple who visit India to find a cheap surrogate. Mimi (Kriti Sanon) accepts the offer for a certain amount of money in order to make her career in acting by going to Mumbai. Later, the couple decides they don't want the child and abandon Mimi when she's pregnant. And then, this story takes too many turns in Mimi's life. The story is full of comedy as well as emotions. Pankaj Tripathi did a brilliant job in this movie. Kriti Sanon also worked hard and showed her talent.
The movie shows a middle-class girl's dreams and her will to fulfill them at any cost. Bhanu (aka Pankaj Tripathi), a cab driver, always be with Mimi even during her worst situation, and even his small glimpses impact the movie. The role of Mimi's mother was also too much impressive. She showed the norms of society by her acting, and also, the emotions toward her daughter were quite sensible. Overall, the movie makes sense in all aspects.
